The puppies are coming!

I am super excited to announce the upcoming litter of Grand Champion Giant's Dance O Praise Him (Gloria) by Grand Champion Kingsbury Red Dragon of Claymore (Oscar).  Both Gloria and Oscar are beautiful representatives of the breed having much success in the show ring.  Gloria has been shown very sparingly but has garnered a group win and group placements as well as Specialty wins.   This is her first litter.  Oscar is not only a stellar show dog -- having multiple high level wins -- but, also a phenomenal producer being a Registered of Merit Bronze sire.  Litter due early November.  Brindles and reds expected.

Here is a link to the pedigree of Gloria X Oscar litter.

It looks promising ...

Gloria is showing the beginning signs of pregnancy.  Although it is too early to tell for sure -- I am optimistic.  I will take her in for an ultrasound in a week or two.  In the mean time here are a few pictures from her show career.  She has won a Herding Group 1 and a Group 3 with very limited showing.  This was all before she turned two years old.  Lately we have been focusing on getting her Rally Novice title.  Unfortunately motherhood got in the way before we completed the title.  I hope to have her out next Spring to finish it off.

Big news ....

We bred our girl Willow (Giants Dance Poinciana) to the handsome Milo.  If all goes well we should have puppies in early February.  This litter could provide us with a rainbow of colors -- brindle, black and white and red.  Here are a couple of pictures of Willow taken in September.

Rapunzel / Nia

Rapunzel now called Nia has found a great home with Rachel and her son in Massachusetts.  Here are a few pictures that I snapped yesterday of the lucky girl.  I have decided to hold on to the other two girls for a couple of months to see how they turn out.  Nia will leave for her new home in a couple of weeks

Planned Litter

Today I took Cybil (Champion Notz Cybil Liberty) for her 30 day post breeding ultrasound.  I thought she was probably pregnant, due to her expanding waist line, but was surprised that the vet saw 5 or 6 puppies.

Although the breeding had been planned for a while every thing that could go wrong with the breeding seemed to happen.  The Reader's Digest version of the story was that Cybil came into heat early, needed to be bred on a Sunday (stud dog in Florida -- Cybil in Arkansas), semen prep kit did not reach the stud dog owner as planned and she had to use an outdated kit, stud dog escaped the fenced in yard prior to collection and when found was overheated,  semen arrived and was implanted on Tuesday a couple of days post "optimum" day, etc.  Needless to say I was less than optimistic that Cybil would get pregnant.

I guess the good Lord is smiling on me as I have wanted to do this breeding for a long time.  Cybil had produced a very nice puppy girl from her last litter that has already done some big winning in her young show career (see blogs about Gloria).  I was really anxious to breed Cybil for her last litter to Dickens (Grand Champion Twinroc Santa Paws) -- who is a proven producer of some very nice dogs.  His most famous offspring being the beautiful Coco that recently won the Herding Group at the world famous Westminster Dog show.

Here is the pedigree for the litter.

Cybil is due on or around the 28th of March.  I am expecting brindle and red puppies.  If you are interested in a puppy feel free to email me at mark.clarke@cox.net.  At the earliest these puppies would be available to go to their new home some time in June.  All pet puppies are sold on a strict spay / neuter contract.

Gideon News

Gideon won a big 4 point major this weekend to earn his championship.  He will now be known as Champion Davenitch Valiant Warrior of Giants Dance (pending AKC confirmation).  We are proud of our boy.  Here is a picture of him winning a few weeks ago.  Thanks to Linda William, professional handler, who does a great job showing my dogs.

In other Gideon news, he sired his first litter with Sadie (Notz-Gdance Little Sadie).  Both parents are OFA hips "Good" and fluff free.

We have ears

The Cybil x Miro pups got their ears this week.  We are keeping two of the pups a boy we are calling Hank and his sister Gloria.  These pups have nice big ears.  So we ended up taping them.  Although the ears aren't "perky" just yet they will be have a few more days of taping.

Pupdate

The puppies are getting big --thirteen weeks.  Here are a few pix of the pups.   They are all getting ears.  So far, we are really pleased with this litter.  Hank and Gloria are still living here as we grow them on to see how they turn out for show dogs.  The bottom picture is of their sister Mandy.  She is loved and spoiled by her mom who sent me this great picture.  All of these puppies have fantastic temperaments!

The puppies are leaving home

The puppies started leaving home late last week.  Sharon Nottingham came and picked up her girl on Friday afternoon.  Later in the day Kayla picked up Mandy.  The next day Brett and his brother Michael drove down from Illinois to pick up Archie.  I am so thankful these puppies have gone to such great homes.  I am keeping the dark brindle girl that we are calling Gloria.  My son Adam and daughter in law Jessica are keeping a brindle boy named Hank.

Puppy Socialization

The grandkids, Wren and Duncan came over to help Grandpa socialize the puppies today.  Everyone had a great time except one of the boys.  He seemed to be bored by the entire process.  The puppies are 5 weeks.  We still have one of the boys available as a fantastic pet for some lucky family.

Pup update -- four weeks

The puppies are doing great.  They are eating on their own even though Cybil will slip in the whelping box to give them a snack every once in a while.  She is such a good momma dog.  Very attentive to her babies.  Here are a few pictures that I took of the brood today.
The puppies are very busy.  They have toys but seem to prefer playing with the milk jug!

The puppies are learning how to climb up the side of the whelping box.  It won't be long and they will be escaping.

3 week old puppy pics

The puppies are growing  up.  They celebrated their first "real meal" tonight.  It was messy but they all got the hang of it.  Here are a few pictures after they have all been semi-cleaned up.

Here is a picture after the photo shoot.  Cybil is finishing up the meal and doing clean up.

Pup updates

The puppies are 5 days old today.  Sadly we lost the tiniest brindle boy.  However the remaining 5 are "hale and hardy".  Cybil is being a good mom and the pups are gaining weight quickly.  If you interested in a puppy let us know.  We won't make a determination of show or pet until 8 weeks.  At that time we will be able to definitively determine which of the pups are available.

Here are a few pictures taken today.

The pups are here

I came home from work yesterday and Cybil had delivered 2 pups.  She was day 60 from the first breeding so I was surprised.  Unfortunately she labored long and hard and only produced a dead pup.  Off to the vet we went for a C-section.  By the end of the afternoon we had 6 live puppies.  I believe that they are all brindle with full white collars.  The count?  3 - boys and 3- girls.  Cybil is being a good momma and is very protective of her babies.  For sure we will have one brindle pet girl.  You can see her in the picture below --- with a lot of white on her body.  I will keep posting regularly.
